**President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Launches District Road Improvement Agenda with Distribution of Road Maintenance Equipment**

In a significant step toward improving the road infrastructure across Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has launched the “District Road Improvement” initiative, marking the start of a nationwide program aimed at upgrading district road networks. The launch, held at a special event in Accra, saw the distribution of road maintenance machinery and equipment to district assemblies as part of efforts to enhance road accessibility and safety in rural and urban areas.

The President reiterated his commitment to ensuring that road networks in every district receive the necessary attention to support the free flow of goods and services, reduce travel time, and improve access to health, education, and economic opportunities for all Ghanaians.

The equipment distributed includes graders, excavators, bulldozers, and compactors, among others, which are expected to aid in road construction, maintenance, and repairs. Municipal Coordinating  Director(MCD) and representatives from various district assemblies received the equipment on behalf of their constituencies.

“Roads are the lifeline of our economy, and improving our district roads will accelerate development at the grassroots level,” President Akufo-Addo emphasized during the ceremony. “This initiative aligns with our broader vision to transform Ghana’s infrastructure and bring development closer to the people.”

The “District Road Improvement” agenda is a key part of the government’s ongoing infrastructure development program, focusing on reducing the infrastructure gap between urban and rural areas. It is expected that by the end of the program, hundreds of kilometers of roads in district assemblies will be upgraded to meet modern standards, improving transportation and boosting local economies.

Local leaders, residents, and stakeholders have praised the initiative, noting that improved road infrastructure will enhance agricultural productivity, promote trade, and improve access to essential services in hard-to-reach areas.

The President urged all district assemblies to ensure the efficient use of the equipment for its intended purposes and called on the private sector to partner with the government in ensuring the sustainability of the initiative.
